FIELD: measurement of optical phase difference. SUBSTANCE: method involves dual-beam interference metering in which measuring beam making up two sides of interferometer. One beam is aimed at movable reflector, analyzed object, fixed reflector, and again at beam splitter. Second beam is incident on to fixed reflector, analyzed object, movable reflector, and again on to beam splitter. Both interfering correlated beams interacting with analyzed object during different time moments t1 and t2 corresponding to different positions of movable reflector, after they have covered equal path, record signal as function of t1-t2 proportional to correlation function. EFFECT: provision for real-time measurement, improved accuracy and time resolution of measurements due to elimination of interference signal of measuring light beam; provision for direct measurement signal of measuring light beam; provision for direct measurement of time correlation functions of reflecting and/or absorbing capacities of analyzed object, and not their spectrum, by means of detector. 2 cl, 1 dwg
