FIELD: methods for control of characteristics of building porous materials based on cement concrete, cement mixes, cement stone and asbestos cement. SUBSTANCE: method for determination of frost resistance of cement materials includes manufacture of reference and main specimens, saturation them with water and testing by compression of reference specimens after saturation with water, and the main specimens, after single freezing. Then, subject to determination are capillary porosity of tested material and index of strength increase after freezing for the given capillary porosity, maximum and minimum frost resistance and maximum and minimum indices of material strength increase when frozen for capillary porosity of tested material by statistically determined dependence of frost resistance on their capillary porosity.
