FIELD: acoustic detection and ranging systems used for continuous measurement and indication of properties of extended reflecting boundaries by amount of extension of echo-signals due to surface reverberation for classification of sea bottoms, measurement of parameters of surface swell, nondestructive check of extended surfaces, location of objects in front of boundary and inside it (surface and bottom fish, cracks and faulty bonding of multi-layer structures, attachment of stiffeners of envelopes, objects of underwater archeology, marine geology, bottom mines, underwater pipe lines, etc. ). SUBSTANCE: active sonar has echo sounder 1, receiving path 2, subtraction circuit 3, reference pulse shaper 11, echo signal extension meter 5 and indicator 7. Besides that, active sonar is provided with two AND-gates 4 and 8, pulse generator 10, linear and frequency modulated signal generator 6 and counter 7. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of determination of parameters of reflecting boundaries, enhanced reliability of results of measurements and location of objects whose reflecting characteristics differ from boundaries and determination of location of boundaries. 2 dwg
