FIELD: ceramics. SUBSTANCE: aluminium oxide-base ceramic material contains thread-like silicon carbide crystals and zirconium compound lanthanum zirconate and/or at least zirconate from the group: cerium, neodymium, praseodymium, yttrium at the following ratio of components, wt.-% silicon carbide 5-40; lanthanum zirconate 0.1-20, and/or cerium zirconate 0.1-5; neodymium zirconate 0.1-5, and/or praseodymium zirconate 0.1-5, and/or yttrium zirconate 0.1-20, and aluminium oxide the rest. Ceramic material is used for making cutting tool which is effective at condition of high cutting rates. EFFECT: enhanced quality of material.
