FIELD: removal of harmful gases and finely divided aerosols, being formed at welding, soldering, in plating productions. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of suction-off from a zone of harmful matter separation air, contaminated by them; forming the air, had been sucked off, to a central suction torch; feeding intake air, being formed to swirled peripheral stream, shielding the central torch; forming the stream in the form of an opened radial fan-shaped jet; setting a flowrate of the air, being sucked off; determining the intake air flowrate according to a predetermined relation. Apparatus for performing the method has a stream swirler, arranged between the housing and a branch pipe. The housing has a diffuser, joined with it and arranged at a level of the branch pipe cutout at a side of an opening. Walls of the diffuser are curved with a curvature radius, being determined from a given relation. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of ventilation process. 3 cl, 3 dwg
