FIELD: organic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: reagent 1: tertiary C- and/or C-isoolefins. Reagent 2: methanol. Reaction conditions: a mixture of ortho-phosphoric and formic acids at concentration 0.01-0.05 at molar ratio 1-4:1, respectively, is added to alcohol. Reagent 1 is treated with reagent 2 in the presence of ionite catalyst with acid property at increased temperature and pressure. Product is used as high-octane additions to motor fuel. EFFECT: improved method of synthesis.
