FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has mounted on shoe of cap coaxially to its vertical axis water-cooling cylindrical protecting screen with located in its upper part horizontal apron. Edge of apron is beaded and is facing down. Edge of horizontal part of movable "skirt" is also beaded and is facing down. Upper parts of horizontal movable "skirt" and shoe of cap have mounted on each of them cylindrical tightening seal, that is capable to contact beads of "skirt" and apron. Tightening as "skirt" is in limiting upper position is achieved due to the fact, that protecting screen bead end is dipped in sand or liquid seal of movable "skirt", and as "skirt" is in limiting lower position, movable "skirt" bead end enters sand seal or liquid seal of stationary shoe. Outer diameter of horizontal apron of protecting screen is 1.03 1.05 of outer diameter of located on shoe cylindrical seal. EFFECT: improved converter outgoing gasses trapping. 1 dwg
