FIELD: manufacture of semifinished and/or finished articles from aluminium- lithium alloys for new engineering equipment including welded structures in aircraft industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves producing a cast homogenized, pressed or rolled blank, annealing it for coagulation of surplus phases, deformations at 250-420 C and a degree of 15-60% followed by annealing at 250-450 C, final deformation at a degree of 15-60% and 270-480 C, hardening at a cooling rate of 0,5-3Vcr and ageing. Ageing may be followed by welding and final ageing. EFFECT: higher failure toughness of main material and reduced residual stresses in welded joints. 8 cl, 2 tbl
