FIELD: hydraulic engineering; structures providing for free passage of water from upper reach of hydraulic waterworks into lower reach. SUBSTANCE: as water level rises in a reservoir or basin, water flows into trench 1 over its side and end walls. Additionally, water flows into trench 1 from longitudinal trough 2 fastened along the trench axis on hollow water ducts 3 which connect the internal space of longitudinal trough 2 with water reservoir. Cross section of said water ducts has the shape of a right-angled triangle with horizontal and vertical legs and hypothenuse inclined towards water duct 4 which discharges water into the lower reach.
