FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: method involves interaction of titanium halide and oxidizing gas in vapor phase in the reaction zone of oxidative reactor at 800 C in the presence of metal compound from the groups IA, IIA and lanthanides of periodic law system at concentration 100-1000 p. p.m. of weight prepared pigment. Metal compound is added to the reaction zone by two discrete portions, not less. The first portion (5-50 p.p.m. of total metal compound quantity) is added before interaction of titanium halide and oxidizing gas, and then, at least one additional portion, is added to the reaction zone after reaction onset of 20 wt.-% titanium halide, not less. Additional portion is a residue of total metal compound quantity. The source of titanium halide is titanium tetrachloride. Interaction of titanium halide and oxidizing gas is carried out at 1200-1500 C. The source of metal compound: metal from IA group of periodic law system, in part, potassium compound. EFFECT: improved method of pigment producing. 6 cl, 1 tbl
