FIELD: protective coatings. SUBSTANCE: coating comprises 10-70 wt.-% of glass and 30-90 wt.-% of filler constituted by silicon or silicon carbide. Glass contains 2-40 wt.-% of one or more oxides from series 1: Al2O3, B2O3, CaO, MgO, K2O, Na2O and 60-98 wt.-% of silicon oxide. Fillers may consist of silicon, silicon carbide or silicon nitride with an additional content in glass of 2-40 wt.-% of one or more oxides from series 2: Y2O3, ZrO2, CeO2, La2O3. EFFECT: extended service life of protective coatings and, correspondingly, longer life of silicon carbide electric heaters. 1 tbl
