FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves impregnation with composition which contains suspension of vat dye, alkali, reducing agent, dispersing agent and water. The process is followed by squeezing, steaming, oxidation and washing. Preparation on the base of aqueous-alkali solution of sodium oxymethyl sulfinate, hydroxyethylidene diphosphoric acid and sodium silicate or preparation on the base of sodium oxymethyl sulfinate, oxy- or hydroxyethylidenedi phosphoric acid, sodium carbonate and carboxymethyl cellulose or their mixture are used as said reducing agent. Its quantity is 6-120 g/l. Impregnation is carried out at temperatures not higher 70 C. EFFECT: increases efficiency of the dye, decreases expense of reducing agent, excludes usage of formaldehyde. 3 tbl
