FIELD: manufacture of piston engines. SUBSTANCE: outer, inner and face surfaces are worked beforehand. Template machining of these surfaces is performed to form shape and lock is cut out, than finishing operation is conducted. The latter is carried out by way of surface-plastic deformation till residual compression tensions are obtained in surface layer. Surface-plastic deformation is accomplished with, for example, hydroshot-blasting while several piston rings are compressed in package with zero clearance in lock and are worked simultaneously.
