FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hardening of working surfaces of cylinder liners of internal combustion engines. According to proposed method, working surface of cylinder linear is subjected to abrasive or point machining to provide dimensions and macrogeometry of working surface and then to pneumovibrodynamic machining with subsequent making of oil-holding microrelief. Then additional plastic deformation of sections of working surface of cylinder linear near dead centers is carried out to increased degree of hardening.
