FIELD: sanitary engineering. SUBSTANCE: to drain constant volume of liquid at preset time interval, service reservoir is connected in its upper portion with starting tank by means of communicating passage; starting tank is provided with shut-off valve and float. Seat of shut-off valve is connected by means of branch pipe with drain hydraulic line and stem of shut-off valve is set in engagement with electromagnet; valve is equipped with disconnector of electromagnet supply. Method of placing the proportioner in operation consists in discharge of liquid into drain hydraulic line, preliminary filling of service reservoir and starting tank with liquid; starting tank is filled with liquid through communicating passage to level at which float equipped with circuit disconnector closes the electromagnet supply circuit. Shut-off valve is popped by this electromagnet and liquid from tank is drained to drain hydraulic line. After emptying the starting tank, valve seat is closed and remaining liquid performs the function of piston sucking the liquid from service reservoir through drain hydraulic line to complete drain.
