SYNCHRONOUS TWO-ROTOR PISTON ENGINE Russian patent published in 1996 - IPC

Abstract RU 2056511 C1

FIELD: manufacture of engines. SUBSTANCE: engine consists of two identical units arranged in one housing symmetrically relative to its center of masses; thermodynamic processes run in this housing in synchronism. Unit has housing, two cylindrical rotors-pistons with rigidly connected dampers, central cylindrical hinge with slot, two peripheral hinges with slots in which dampers articulated with rotors move, two eccentric shafts with balance beams and intermediate shaft on which external matching gears are fitted. Located in housing symmetrically to central hinge are two identical cylinders in which sliding rotors-pistons roll; dampers of these pistons are received by slot of central hinge; unit is also provided with two combustion chambers, two seats for peripheral hinges and two mixing chambers. Central hinge is provided with passages to bring combustion chambers in communication simultaneously with supercharging-compression chambers and expansion-exhaust chambers separated by dampers. Dampers articulated with rotors are provided with passages to regulate supply of mixture from mixing chambers to supercharging-compression chambers. In the course of compression of combustible mixture, each combustion chamber is brought in communication with supercharging-compression chamber of one cylinder and in the course of expansion of gases, each combustion chamber is brought in communication with expansion- exhaust chamber of other cylinder. During rotation of shafts, rotors-pistons divide chambers of housing together with their dampers into compartement of varying volume where thermodynamic processes which ensure operation of engine run. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 2 cl, 10 dwg
