FIELD: automotive industry, shipbuilding, tractor building and other spheres of application. SUBSTANCE: rotary internal combustion engine has housing with inner cylindrical space and combustion chambers furnished with overlapped bypass channels, rotor and system of gates installed in housing slots and engaging with shaped external surface of rotor. Inner cylindrical space is divided into independent compression and expansion spaces communicating through even number of combustion chambers uniformly spaced over circumference. Rotor consists of disks installed on common shaft and arranged in compression and expansion spaces. Segment-shaped cutouts alternating with cylindrical parts are made on external surfaces of disks. Disks are turned relative to each other so that opposite to segment-shaped cutout of one disk cylindrical part of other disk is located. Gates are arranged in pairs near each internal combustion chamber. One gate of each chamber is installed in compression space, and the other, in expansion space.
