FIELD: sheep farming, in particular, growing of new sheep breeds. SUBSTANCE: method involves selecting by evaluating difference in wool thickness (quality or class) on thigh region under belly and under animal beard and evaluating leveling and quality of wool on animal thigh. Retention of small quantity of dead hair in wool mass, preferably on back region and under belly may be taken as genotypical stimulant and guarantee for retention and increase in meat potential as well as resistance of sheep of given genotype and other half-coarse hair mutton sheep.
