FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention represents a method for selection of coarse-wooled ewes for crossing with factory meat breeds for improvement of productivity and quality of meat of crossbred lambs. Method provides for heterogeneous selection of females of Kalmyk fat-tailed breed by immunogenetic indices, nonspecific blood resistance, age, and live weight for crossing with rams-producers of Texel breed. Heterogeneous selection will allow us to correct shortcomings typical for the Kalmyk fat-tailed breed and to produce intermediate type offspring. When selecting animals by wool production, the occurrence of the antigen Ma is high equal to 0.92. Frequency of occurrence is 0.81–0.92 in Cb and Bg antigens with high live weight of queens. Highest frequency of occurrence of 0.90 in the Ma antigen is observed in the group selected for multiple pregnancy. Texel breed differs from the Kalmyk breed by its larger fruit; we use age selection. When crossing the Texel breeder rams differing by multiple fertility, the number of twin lambs is increased by 17.9%.
EFFECT: pure-bred rams obtained from experimental females of Kalmyk breed at birth were by 10.44%, and rams by 9.34% lower in live weight of hybrid peers.
