FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of agriculture. The crossbred offspring is obtained by mating ewes of Stavropol fine-wool breed of wool production direction with stud rams of Volgograd fine-wool breed of meat and wool production direction. The rams of the offspring obtained at the age of weaning them from the ewes, of 4-4.5 months, are divided into groups depending on the degree of development of the horn length. The rams (lambs) are assessed based on productivity indices, using as a marker of the productivity index the degree of their hornedness. On the basis of the assessment the prediction is created based on the productivity indices "live weight", "wool shearing" by the age of 14-15 months.
EFFECT: use of invention enables to create groups of animals with predictable performance characteristics of productivity: for groups with increased body weight the hornless rams are used; for groups with combined increased body weight and increased wool shearing - semi-hornless; for groups with increased wool shearing - horned rams.
