FIELD: laser engineering; cooling devices for variable-temperature gases in layer. SUBSTANCE: method involves initiation of medium circulation by means of fan through space formed in optical cavity by anode plate and cathode element and through heat exchanger. Device implementing this method has vacuum chamber with guides and fan to initiate circulation of gas mixture, discharge electrodes built up of water- cooled anode plate and cathode element mounted inside vacuum chamber and connected to voltage supply, and cooler built up of set of heat transfer tubes. Spent gas mixture is passed through heat exchanger at varying heat-release capacity which is increased in gas medium layer where temperature is higher; heat-transfer tubes are installed in heat exchanger with variable density and variably finned over frontal section of cooler. EFFECT: improved cooling conditions. 2 cl, 5 dwg
