FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: wire of 2.5 - 6.0 mm diameter is heated up to temperature of 820 - 970 C in medium of hydrogen and nitrogen, keep for 5 - 15 s, cool with gas stream with speed of 8 -170 m/s to temperature of 520 - 600 C. Cooling time is adjusted depending on wire thickness, gas stream speed, temperatures of beginning and end of cooling, width of flat gas stream. At final temperature of 520 - 600 C holding is kept for 2 -5 s and then it is finally cooled. Apparatus has furnace, cooling chamber with thermostats hermetically adjoined to it at its input and output, located in chamber cavity blower, output branch pipe of which is connected by pipelines with cooler and HK delivery box, that has longitudinal along technological process line slit-type nozzle, and V-shaped centering members mounted along HK in longitudinal direction, and slide bar mounted in HK with capability to move along slit-type nozzle.
