FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, thermal treatment of wire in particular. SUBSTANCE: wire of 2.5 mm diameter is heated up to temperature of 9 - 10 C, held, cooled by air stream blowing at speed of vg = 65 m/s to temperature of 540 C for 3, 6 seconds and finally cooled. In the case cooling time is adjusted depending on wire diameter, temperatures of beginning and end of cooling, width of flat gas stream. Apparatus for treatment method realization has furnace, blower 1, output branch pipe 2 connected with delivery box 3, that has longitudinal along technological process line slit-type nozzle 4, and V-shaped guiding members 5, bases 6 of which are located in plane of longitudinal symmetry 7 of slit-type nozzle slide bar 8 mounted in delivery box under slit-type nozzle and capable to move along it and V-shaped guiding members are mounted with their bases above the slit-type nozzle.
