METHOD OF WHEELS STRENGTHENING Russian patent published in 1996 - IPC

Abstract RU 2064511 C1

FIELD: machines details strengthening by hardening using plasma spray, method is used for railroad rolling stock wheels hardening. SUBSTANCE: aim is to increase wearability and creation of optimal level of hardened layer fatigue durability. Car and locomotive wheel surface is hardened under following parameters: plasmatron power - 35-45 kW, wheel rotation speed - 4-10 mm/s, space between plasmatron and wheel surface - 40-55 mm. Wheel surface layer structure is made of 13-18 % of hardening sorbite, martensite - balance. Railroad rolling stock wheels hardening by the method allows significantly to decrease their wear during operation and to increase their service life. EFFECT: significantly decreased rolling stock wheels wear, increased their service life.
