FIELD: technological processes; transportation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to railway transport, in particular to the processing of the wheel of railway transport. Carry out the hardening of the surface of the above-mentioned wheel by scanning with a reflow at the power density of the arc 104–105 W/cm2 electrode with continuous-sequential penetration in the course of scanning a toroidal channel with a local volume of V=1.0–150 mm3 ensuring the ratio of the unit area of the heat sink to the volume of molten metal, limited to this area, in the range of 0.4–4, at the same time, the time of the mentioned high-temperature impact on the local volume is τ=0.02–0.4 s with the ratio of the scanning step to the electrode thickness in the range of 0.7–1.2. Hardening of the wheel surface is carried out over the entire surface of the skating and the wheel flange, while copying the geometry of the wheel profile, and in the process of scanning with melting get the wave profile of the surface of the wheel in the form of scallops with a height of 0.1–0.5 mm, containing up to 70–80 % of primary austenite, and carry out plastic strain hardening of the wheel surface during operation with an increase in the specific pressure on the scallops by 2–10 times with the provision of direct and reverse wheel-rail mates γ↔α transformation of austenite to martensite.
EFFECT: durability of the “wheel-rail” pair is increased due to more complete use of the source and hardened metal with repeated hardening of the rolling surface and wheel flange within its tolerance for wear, as well as by increasing the duration and mileage of maintenance-free operation of wheel sets by 2-3 times.
