FIELD: search for deposits of hydrocarbons. SUBSTANCE: method is used at stages of search, prospecting, final prospecting and exploitation of deposits of hydrocarbons. Method of ground gravitational prospecting is based on registration of gravitational force by gravimeters on square or rectangular observation network, on account of change of their null points in element with the use of observations in crossing elements, on account of actual density of intermediate layer, on isolation of informative local anomalies of gravitational force by exclusion of background component. Observations at two mutually orthogonal equally extended elements of gravimetric runs are conducted at survey points. Account of change of null point of gravimeter in element with the aid of observations in crossing elements is conducted by approximation of null point as function of time by multidegree polynomial. By data of gravimetrical prospecting density of relief-forming rocks is evaluated by correlation-static method, law of change of density depending on coordinates and height is established and used while calculating corrections on effects of relief and values of anomalies of gravitational force. Isolation of informative local anomalies is provided by ignoring background as lower (or upper) location surface of field. EFFECT: improved authenticity of method.
