FIELD: measurement technology; measurement of signal nonlinear distortion factor. SUBSTANCE: analyzed signal is compared with reference sine-wave signal; current values of ratio moduli of instant values K(wt) of analyzed and sine-wave reference signals are determined at definite time instants wt; their average value Kav is found; square root of square difference of two quantities K(wt) and Kav are found and multiplied by sine-wave reference signal value; RMS value of product obtained is calculated and divided by RMS value of analyzed signal. Method dispenses with filters for separating or suppressing fundamental harmonic and is most useful at infralow frequencies with analyzing signals varying in wide dynamic range when high speed and measurement accuracy are required.
