FIELD: design, construction and use of various objects. SUBSTANCE: geologic-geophysical investigations, tectonic and physical measurements are conducted on chosen section of the Earth's crust, physical and mechanical properties of rocks are determined, values of maximal horizontal compression in bedrocks and of strength of rocks for single-axis compression are measured in addition. Obtained values are compared with values calculated theoretically, type of section of the Earth's crust is established, amplitude of fractures and angles formed by them and lands of maximal tangential and normal stresses are measured in relief of examined section. Category of activity of fractures is established by them, then phase of development of fractures is determined by which degree of their instability is evaluated.
