FIELD: tooling of precious stones, mainly diamonds, at manufacture of jewelry. SUBSTANCE: the method of tooling of precious stones, mainly diamonds, by engagement of the surfaces of tooled stones consists in the fact that the stones to be tooled are chucked in parallel planes, and relative displacement of these planes is accomplished; tooling is accomplished by changing the distance between the planes of location of the stones and changing the angular coordinates of their chucking. Relative displacement of the planes with the stones to be tooled can be accomplished in the form of circular movement of the planes about the common axis of rotation, or in the form of oscillatory straight-line reciprocating motion, which can be added by oscillatory motion at least in one of the planes of location of the stones to be tooled. Besides, the stones may additionally by rotated about their crystallographic axis. EFFECT: improved quality. 5 cl, 2 dwg
