FIELD: mining industry; broken belt catcher for decline belt conveyors. SUBSTANCE: according to offered method conveyor belt, in case of breakage, is stopped by operating mechanism which has constant signal communication with belt. Operating mechanism is arranged at angle to belt and it provides constant friction contact with belt moving under operating conditions. Clearance is left between working portion of operating mechanism and belt. At reverse motion of belt operating mechanism is turned over to contact with belt, and stopping is provided owing to mechanical resistance force appearing during movement of belt along operating mechanism installed under belt. With belt stopped, operating mechanism is arranged square to belt, with its operating portion brought above level of supporting roller. Conveyor belt stopping device has working member to provide stopping of belt in case of its breakage. This member has constant signal friction contact with belt through its idle portion is arranged at angle relative to belt, is hinge-secured on canvyor flight, and is provided with actuator arranged with clearance relative to belt during its working motion, and fixing stop for working member. The latter is made, for instance, in form of closed frame installed under belt and furnished with counterweight at idle side to provide constant friction contact of idle portion of working member and belt. Actuator made in form of sharp scraper is installed at working side of frame. Axis of working member joint is displaced towards frame working side. Sharp scraper outline corresponds to shape of conveyor belt carrying run. EFFECT: enalrged operating capabilities. 3 cl, 1 dwg
