FIELD: refrigerating engineering. SUBSTANCE: defrosting is effected by sprinkling frost on surface of battery with hydrophobic fluid at temperature of 2 to 5 C at simultaneous supply of 20 to 25 percent of this fluid to sump for melting frost. Density of hydrophobic fluid is less than 0.95 g/cu.cm and freezing point is below temperature of air in chamber. Mixture of snowmelt, hydrophobic fluid and wet snow flows to sump where from it is drained into settler. Snowmelt is discharged from settler and hydrophobic fluid separated from snowmelt is heated on surface of heat exchanger and is fed again for defrosting the battery. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 2 cl, 1 dwg
