FIELD: television engineering. SUBSTANCE: color picture tube has evacuated glass envelope with rectangular screen panel. Panel has shadow mask assembly mounted therein by means of supporting elements equally distributed over periphery inside panel. Supporting elements ensure compensation for thermal expansion of shadow mask assembly. Supporting element for each spatially distributed position has dowel pin secured to glass envelope, spring with aperture engaging the dowel pin, and plate welded between spring and shadow mask assembly. Spring and plane parallel to longitudinal axis of picture tube form angle of 15 deg. to afford at least 50% of desired thermal compensation; bimetal plate has appropriate thickness and length required to ensure approximate expansion for remaining half of afforded compensation.
