FIELD: manufacture of cathode-ray tubes. SUBSTANCE: in accordance with invention process of electro-photographic manufacture of luminescent screen unit on internal surface of faceplate of cathode-ray tube 10 includes stages of coating of internal surface of faceplate with volatile organic conducting material to form conducting organic layer which is coated by volatile photoconducting material to form organic photoconducting layer. Then uniform stress is established in organic photoconducting layer and selected sections of it are exposed to visible light to act on stress in them without affecting non-exposed section of organic photoconducting layer. Later light-absorbing material of screen structure triboelectrically charged is sprayed on to non-exposed section of organic photoconducting layer to form continuous matrix from light-absorbing material that has open sections. Present process is update of previous methods as it includes additional stages of formation of layer leveling surface of organic photoconducting layer, of coating of layer leveling surface by second layer of volatile organic conducting material to form second organic conducting layer and coating of second organic conducting layer with second layer of volatile organic photoconducting material to form second organic photoconducting layer. Materials of luminophor are so sprayed on to second layer of organic photoconducting layer properly charged and exposed that luminophor fully covers holes in matrix and overlaps part of matrix adjoining on holes as minimum. EFFECT: elimination of electrostatic interaction between matrix and luminophors and corresponding mating of luminophors relative to matrix. 5 cl, 10 dwg
