FIELD: shipbuilding. SUBSTANCE: stern tube assembly has housing 1 of stuffing box with soft packing located on propeller shaft 8 and connected with ship's hull by means of two supports and stern tube gland 7. Supports have pins 12 with spherical heads 13 secured to ship's hull, cylindrical seats 14 in housing 1 of stuffing box for receiving spherical heads 13 and circular bushes 15 located in seats 14 in spaced relation to spherical heads 13. Soft packing consists of two parts 4 and 5 with flexible circular gasket 6 in between them. Located on outside of packing are rings 2 and 3 whose ends facing each other are provided with bulges on diametrically opposite sides of these rings. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 2 cl, 3 dwg
