FIELD: shipbuilding. SUBSTANCE: device for sealing the revolving shaft mainly in stern tube assembly has sealing rings laid in proper orientation on shaft in one fixed load-bearing system, mainly one contact circular seal 6 and one reserve seal 8 located in load-bearing system; seal 8 is made as stuffing box seal with soft packings 14; device is also provided with one stuffing box cap 13 moved axially in one guide housing 11 connected with load-bearing system. Located between guide housing 11 and stuffing box cap 13 is mechanism for moving cap 13 which is brought in communication with pressure source 18 of hydraulic or pneumatic working medium. Mechanism for moving stuffing box cap 13 consists of cylinder- and-piston units 11a and 18b evenly distributed over circle concentric to shaft axis. Each cylinder-and-piston unit is brought in communication with above-mentioned pressure source of hydraulic or pneumatic working medium. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 2 dwg
