FIELD: shipbuilding; method and devices for motion and maneuvering of ships. SUBSTANCE: method consists in change of magnitude and direction of thrust of bladed propeller complex making use of propeller and counter-propeller located after it; thrust at counter-propeller is ensured both with operating and inoperative propeller; to create thrust, propeller is set in rotation and counter-propeller is stopped at full speed; at low speed, propeller is stopped and counter- propeller is set in rotation. Change of direction of thrust is effect through turning the counter-propeller to side opposite to side of turn of ship. For realization of this method, counter-propeller is made rotatable and is provided with self-contained drive with stop and with blade pitch control mechanism. Counter-propeller is turnable in horizontal plane relative to axis perpendicular to centerline of propeller shaft. EFFECT: reduced power requirements for motion of ship, improved mass and dimensional characteristics of propulsion plant; enhanced handling at low speed. 7 cl, 2 dwg
