FIELD: chemical-thermal treatment of steel, hardening off steel pieces welding in particular. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has disk carbon electrode 1, that is driven by drive into rotation opposite to rotation of treated piece 13, surface of which is heated by electrical arc up to smelting. Simultaneously protecting gas or air is fed oppositely by mounted in arc zone perpendicularly to disk electrode 1 generatrix nozzles 10 and 11. The gas or air is compressing, compacting and stabilizing arc and so provides increase of process intensification. EFFECT: apparatus allows to increase process of intensification. 2 cl, 2 dwg
