FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: procedure consists in scanning surface and in melting it with electric short arc up to 1 mm length and reverse polarity by means of rotating and cooled disk electrode, in saturating melt surface with ionised plasma of electrode and in cooling melt metal. Surface is melted at power density in arc 104-105 Wt/cm2 at continuous-successive fusion penetration during channel scanning of toroid form with local volume V=1.0-150 mm3 and at maintaining ratio of singular area of heat removal to volume of melted metal restricted with this area within the ranges 0.4-4. Also, duration of high temperature effect onto local volume is within the ranges τ = L/υ1 =0.02-0.4 sec, where L is length of melted area, υ1 is rate of hardening at ratio of a scanning pitch to thickness of an electrode within the ranges 0.7-1.2.
EFFECT: raised wear resistance of treated parts and reduced duration of high temperature effect.
