FIELD: prospecting and exploitation of placer deposits of gold. SUBSTANCE: starting sample is selected. Gold of starting sample is passed through sieve so that number of gold grains in them increases in number with decrease of size of fraction. On side of large fractions gold of starting sample is separated so that number of gold grains is separated portion will be equal or bigger than ten. Authenticity of presence of gold is calculated as well as required volume of prospecting sample. Prospecting sample of required volume is selected and true content of gold in prospecting sample is found. EFFECT: improved authenticity of method. 2 tbl
