FIELD: surface strengthening of low-rigidity parts of machines. SUBSTANCE: process of surface plastic deformation consists in placement of deforming members which give rotary motion to part about longitudinal axis of part by means of magnetic field, in bringing of deforming members in parallel to longitudinal axis of article. For increase of action on treated surface deforming members are subjected to additional action of ring magnetic field which value of magnetic induction amounts to 0.4-1.9 T. Tool for implementation of process is equipped with device for magnetization of surface layer of treated part. Mentioned device is fabricated in the form of two washers mounted on case coaxially to it, on side of outer end surfaces of cheeks and permanent ring magnet with axial magnetization put on case coaxially to it between internal end surfaces of washers and bottom part of ring chamber where deforming members are mounted for spatial movement. Deforming members move by means of action of magnetic field created by permanent magnets located on bottom of ring chamber and magnetic field formed by permanent ring magnet.
