FIELD: production of high-octane number components of automobile fuels. SUBSTANCE: C4-C5- isoolefin is treated with C2-C3-alcohol in presence of ionite catalyst. Initial alcohol alone or in mixture with alcohol isolated from washing water is preliminarily subjected to heteroazeotrope rectification in presence of ether being synthesized withdrawing water-free alcohol or its mixture with ether from the bottom of rectification column, the top fraction of which being mixture of ether, water, and alcohol. This mixture is phase-separated and upper layer is returned into heteroazeotrope rectification column. EFFECT: new method proposed. 3 cl, 1 dwg
