CARTRIDGE CASE AND METHOD OF ITS MANUFACTURE Russian patent published in 1996 - IPC

FIELD: cartridge cases for fowling-pieces and sporting guns. SUBSTANCE: cartridge case uses a tubular casing made of plastic or paper. The casing accommodates a bottom wad made with a flange and hole for the primer cap. The casing lower part with the bottom wad is embraced with a head made in the form of two coaxial cylindrical sections connected through a section with an expanding profile. The smaller inside diameter of the head equals the outside diameter of the casing. The larger inside diameter of the head equals the diameter of the bottom wad flange at projection of the casing lower part up to the level of the head section with the larger diameter, or the sum of the outside diameter of the bottom wad flange and double thickness of the casing wall at projection of the casing lower part behind the level of the head section with the larger diameter. The external surface of the bottom wad that is directly engageable with powder may have several bosses. The bosses are made in the form of radially arranged ridges. The bottom wad may have a shock-absorbing member in the form of a crosspiece with blind holes on the external surface and an axial hole made in the form of a primer cap and be provided with an anvil. At manufacture of cartridge case first the tubular casing is installed with its lower part in the head until its of the head smaller diameter section to the section of expanding profile. Then the bottom wad is installed without its deformation into the casing lower part up to the contact with the head surface. The section of the head larger diameter is bent up to engagement with the embraced surface of the bottom wad. EFFECT: enhanced quality and facilitated procedure of manufacture. 9 cl, 8 dwg
