FIELD: nondestructive testing. SUBSTANCE: invention refers to field of nondestructive testing of mechanical properties of articles made from steel and alloys. Process of testing of wear-resistance of steels and alloys consists in hardening and low-temperature tempering of tested material, in its magnetization up to technical saturation and in determination of coercive force which is used to find wear resistance in compliance with dependence of coercive force on wear resistance obtained in advance. EFFECT: expanded application field thanks to capability of testing of steel articles of unspecified shape and dimensions under conditions of closed magnetic circuit, increased authenticity of process due to enhanced sensitivity of process and exclusion of influence of dimensions and shape of articles on results of test. 5 dwg, 1 tbl
