FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves subjecting basic billet to thermal treatment and machining for radial compression; making semi-finished article by radial compression with variable deformation extent at different parts of article; forming barrel channel and conducting final machining. Semi-finished article is produced in two stages with intermediate thermal treatment for relieving stresses after first radial compression stage. EFFECT: reduced material usage, decreased labor intensity, reduced power consumption and improved quality of article.
