FIELD: plastic working of metals, in particular, rotational reduction. SUBSTANCE: method involves mounting cylindrical billet onto mandrel having small-diameter and large-diameter cylindrical portions; effectuating rotational reduction of billet by deforming rollers, with small-diameter deforming roller being imparted only axial motion at the area, where billet adjoins with mandrel. Roller gripping angle is selected such that radial constituent of reduction force exceeds axial constituent by at least 20% EFFECT: increased efficiency and improved quality of article. 2 cl, 4 dwg
