FIELD: manufacturing barrels of small-arms and gun weapons. SUBSTANCE: at manufacture of barrel the whole metal of breech end of the barrel, a cartridge chamber and beginning of the rifled bore over a length of at least 3 calibres inclusive, is subjected to thermal treatment so as to enhanced its hardness, then the casing is press-fitted onto the section with enhanced hardness; the casing overlaps this section over a length of at least one caliber. EFFECT: enhanced wear resistance. 1 dwg
