METHOD OF CERAMIC MATERIAL EXPLOSIVE COMPACTION Russian patent published in 1996 - IPC

Abstract RU 2069650 C1

FIELD: method of ceramic materials explosive compaction based on silicon nitride is used in processes of difficult to be pressed ceramic powders moulding, that are used in production of structural usage materials. SUBSTANCE: method provides for preparation of corresponding CBC charge with following stoichiometric ratio of components, mass % : silicon powder - 40.8, sodium azide - 40.6, ammonium hexafluorosilicate - 18.6. Method also provides for location of charge in reactor with clearance to container and clearances filling with nitrogen under pressure of 2 - 10 MPa, ignition of charge from tungsten filament voltage caused by electrical current, initiation explosives charge located on outer surface of container. CBC-charge for silicon nitride production and not silicon nitride itself is used as initial powder. Process of CBC-charge burning is exercised directly in container. After CBC-process is passed heated up to temperature of 2300 K products of synthesis are compacted by explosive charge explosion power. During high-speed deformation of activated powder intermotion of particles takes place, impregnation of crystal structure with defects, dynamic sintering of material.
