FIELD: quantum electronics. SUBSTANCE: ion laser has active element, solenoid, and power supply; the latter uses switching conversion circuit arrangement and has parallel switching components whose choke coils are combined with sectionalized solenoid. Power supply has 2k parallel switching components which are synchronized and spaced phase apart in cycles, where k= 1,2,3, . .. are integer numbers. EFFECT: provision for optimizing output power, reduced size and weight, improved efficiency, reduced radiation ripple at fixed ripples of switching component, and provision for shifting concentration instability in active element toward heavy currents. 2 cl, 1 dwg
