SUBSTANCE: reader of code from surface of bodies of rotation has unit processing videosignal and optical unit connected to it that incorporates multielement matrix photodetector, lens, illumination elements and conical mirror placed in sequence on optical axis. Illumination elements are arranged uniformly over circumference in symmetry with optical axis of ring collimator, outside field of vision of lens. Conical mirror has through hole in center for entry of article with code and reflection surface of mirror is directed towards lens and is located around surface with code. EFFECT: potential for reading information in the form of alphabetic-digital and Greek symbols in addition to bar codes achieved thanks to generation and recording of two-dimensional image of read code. 4 dwg
