FIELD: medicine, in particular, devices for intrauterine contraception. SUBSTANCE: intrauterine device uses a deforming member made of material with a shape memory, and a thread connected to it; the deformable member, having the shape of a hollow cylinder before it is placed in the cavity of the uterus, acquires after heating a conical or spherical shape for bodies of revolution. In another design version the deformable member is made in the form of bent flexible branches. To enhance the contraceptive effect, the deformable member made in the form of a hollow cylinder or bent branches is provided with disk-shaped or spherical end-pieces.
